I’ve been following the tragic case of Leonel Valey-Morales and can’t stop thinking about the impact on his family and friends. It’s particularly hard knowing this happened over a weekend that’s supposed to be about remembrance and community.
I’ve read a bit about the "Summer of Hope" initiative and really hope it gains some traction. With all the violence over Memorial Day weekend, it feels like the city is at a crossroads. I know these programs can’t bring back loved ones, but maybe they can help prevent another family from going through this pain.
The arrest of Dilson Ramirez must have come as a relief to some extent, but it’s just one piece of the puzzle. Curious if anyone has thoughts on how these community efforts can make a difference in neighborhoods struggling with crime. How can residents feel safer day-to-day? Would love to hear from locals about what’s working and what isn’t.
