I’ve been following the Richard Lee Milton Jr. case, and something that struck me is the location—a courtyard on Washington Avenue in the Central City neighborhood. It’s unsettling to think of this happening in a place that should be a community gathering spot. How do we turn these spaces back into safe areas? It feels like such a violation of what should be areas of refuge and community togetherness. My heart really goes out to the people living there who now have to cope with this every day. I truly hope that the community can come together and support one another during this incredibly difficult time. Does anyone local have more insight into how this neighborhood is coping with the aftermath?

Hey everyone, I want to talk about the community response to Richard Lee Milton Jr.’s tragic death. I’ve been following this case closely and it’s really stuck with me. From what I’ve seen, Richard’s passing has deeply impacted not just his family and friends, but also the people living around the Central City neighborhood. Many in the community gathered for his funeral service, sharing memories and supporting each other. It’s comforting to see people come together in the face of such loss, but it's also a stark reminder of the urgent need to address gun violence. New Orleans has been struggling with this issue for too long, and it feels like we’re losing too many of our own. I hope authorities can find some leads soon, but in the meantime, maybe it's time for us to think about what more we can do as a community to make our streets safer. If anyone out there has thoughts on community initiatives or anything like that, I’d love to hear your ideas. Sending love and strength to everyone who knew Richard. May we find justice for him and create a safer city for us all.
