I’ve been thinking a lot about the emotional toll that Malik Veal's tragic murder must have taken on his community in New Orleans. It’s absolutely devastating when someone so young is taken away, and I really feel for his family and friends who are left to navigate this heartbreaking loss. From everything I’ve read, Malik seemed like he was well-regarded in his community, and his death is just such a senseless act of violence. I noticed that the National Gun Violence Memorial has his entry, and it’s comforting to know that people are taking the time to light virtual candles and remember him. It’s wonderful to see a platform where individuals can express their grief and raise awareness about the need to address gun violence in our country. Sharing these memorials can be cathartic and might inspire others to take action against this ongoing issue. Sending thoughts of peace and strength to Malik’s loved ones during this difficult time.
