I came across some information about Donald Barsy and just felt the need to express something that's been on my mind regarding his life. It's so easy to focus solely on the tragic circumstances around his and his mother's deaths, but I think it's equally important to remember Donald's life and achievements. Here was someone who dedicated significant portions of his life to serving others—as a Police Officer, a member of the Air Force, and a Navy Lieutenant Junior Grade. That's a life committed to service, something that truly speaks volumes about his character. I didn't know Donald personally, but hearing about his interests in reading and music makes me think he was much more than his uniform or any headlines. It sounds like he was a pretty thoughtful and introspective person. While it’s devastating that his life ended this way, let us also take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the positive impacts he made throughout his life. Sending thoughts of peace to his friends and family during what must be an unimaginably difficult time. If anyone has stories about Donald from more joyful times, it would be great to hear them. It feels important that his full life is remembered, not just its end.
