I can't stop thinking about how this has shaken our community. It's been a few weeks since the tragedy, but I attended the vigil at Crossroads Florence Church, and it was powerful to see so many people come together in solidarity. Shane Miller was someone I knew from high school—though we weren't super close, he always had a smile on his face and was genuinely friendly to everyone. The way people spoke about him, especially his love for his family and the outdoors, really made me reflect on how precious life is. I think what stands out to me, and what probably makes this so much harder to process, is that none of us could have imagined something so violent happening here in Florence. I keep asking myself how we can protect our loved ones moving forward and what measures we can take as a community to prevent this kind of tragedy. My heart goes out to Shane's family and the families of all the victims. Let's continue to support each other and give them strength as they navigate the unimaginable. Has anyone heard if there are new security measures being proposed in the area after this incident? It’d be good to know if anything is in the works. Hug your loved ones a little tighter, everyone.
