Hey everyone, I've been following the Gregory W. Newman case from Montavilla and have been thinking a lot about the impact on the community, especially since it broke a 30-day period without homicides in Portland. It's a gut-wrenching reminder of the persistent violence that surfaces and affects us all, whether we knew Gregory personally or not. The incident has shaken the neighborhood, and I imagine it's been a tough situation for his family, who understandably are asking for privacy during this time. I read that the police managed to make an arrest, which is a relief in terms of justice being served, but it doesn't take away the loss Gregory's family must be feeling. It's just incredibly sad to see another life cut short like this. I hope more can be done to address and prevent violence in our communities. Does anyone on here live near Montavilla and can share how the area is responding or if there are any efforts being made locally to address these concerns? Would love to hear any thoughts.
