Hey everyone, I’ve been following the case of Anthony J. Garland closely and I just can't shake off this thought about how broad daylight incidents like these affect the sense of safety in our communities. The shooting happened at 5:30 p.m. in a pretty active area – who would’ve imagined something so dreadful could take place then and there? I feel deeply for those who knew Anthony and all the people in the area who might be feeling uneasy in their own neighborhood now. It's disturbing how gun violence can suddenly shatter the normalcy of daily life. I hope that with the recent arrest, there might be some peace or at least some answers for Anthony’s family and friends. If anyone here is from Portland, how has this incident impacted your feelings about safety in the Lloyd District neighborhood? I just hope the authorities can find out exactly what happened and bring closure for everyone who is grieving and concerned.
