Has anyone else noticed how quiet it’s been regarding updates on Derek Pires' case? It’s been weighing heavily on my mind. This tragedy hit our community hard, and I can't help but feel for his kids, especially knowing he was determined to turn things around for them. I keep thinking about his little boy, who will grow up with only stories of what an amazing dad Derek was striving to be.
I drive by Dartmouth and Dunbar often, and each time I'm reminded of how fragile life is and how quickly things can change. It's unsettling, truly. If anyone in the community has any information, no matter how small, I hope they consider reaching out to the authorities. Derek and his family deserve justice, and it feels like we owe it to them to keep this conversation going. There must be somebody out there who knows something.
I've been following this case closely and can't stop thinking about Derek Pires' family, especially his young children. Losing a parent is beyond difficult, and to have it happen in such a senseless way must be overwhelming for them. I can't imagine the pain his fiancée and kids are experiencing right now. It’s deeply upsetting that someone who was working so hard to be a good dad won’t get to see his children grow up.

For those who aren’t familiar, it’s technology that detects and locates gunfire almost instantly, which is how the police were able to reach Derek so quickly. It’s a small comfort to know there was an immediate response, but it brings up questions about crime prevention. It's awful that this happened in the first place, especially in a community where residents claim such violence is rare. I hope that Derek’s family finds some solace in the legacy he leaves behind as a devoted father. It’s heart-wrenching to think about his children growing up without him.
