I've been following the case of Lashelle Hewlett, and I just can't shake the feeling of how senseless this tragedy is. She was so close to graduating and beginning a promising career path, and now her family is left dealing with such an unimaginable loss. What's really stuck with me is how her mother, Michelle, had plans to move them out of the apartment complex soon. It's heart-wrenching to think they were so close to starting anew, and now their lives are filled with devastation.
It’s infuriating that the person responsible is still out there. I can’t help but think about Lashelle’s boyfriend and her mother, both injured trying to protect her. They didn’t deserve this, nor did Lashelle. This kind of violence leaves such a deep scar, not just on the families involved but the whole community. I hope anyone who knows anything comes forward soon. Her family deserves answers and justice, and it’s up to us as a community to ensure they eventually get both. Sending strength to all who are grieving.
