I can’t shake the sadness after hearing about what happened to Dashawn. It's just so difficult to comprehend - Halloween, of all nights. A time that should be filled with joy and laughter for families, and now there’s this huge cloud over the community. As a parent myself, I think about how hard it must be for his family, and for the kids in Warren Central High who knew him. The area where it happened is usually so serene; this incident just feels unreal. I was reading about the New B.O.Y. mentoring program, which Dashawn was a part of. It’s clear he was more than just a statistic or another news headline. He was trying to make a difference, or at least was being guided to. This just shows how desperately we need more programs like it, how they really do have the potential to change lives. My heart goes out to Kareem Hines and everyone involved in that program—they must be feeling such a profound loss right now. IMPD is doing what they can, but I really hope someone comes forward with information. Every little bit might help bring some justice. My thoughts are with his family and friends during this unimaginable time.
