Has anyone else noticed the troubling frequency of violent incidents in Cahokia Heights and the surrounding areas? I’ve been following different crime stories in this region for the past few months, and it seems like communities are really struggling with a lot of these tragedies. The Thanksgiving Day shooting of Markel J. Staples is just another devastating example of the violence that has become all too common. It’s hard to imagine the pain his family is going through right now, especially during a holiday that’s supposed to be about togetherness and gratitude. It’s really important that local authorities and community leaders come together to address these issues. What do you all think can be done at a community level to make our neighborhoods safer? Sending thoughts and strength to Markel's family and friends.
