I can't stop thinking about the tragic event that took Dontius's life. As someone living in Chicago myself, it's worrying to see something like this happen right on someone's doorstep. It's just so unfair that a young person like Dontius, with so much potential ahead of him, had his life taken so suddenly. The fact that it happened so close to his home must be incredibly difficult for his family and friends, not to mention the trauma the driver experienced during such a terrifying ordeal. I can’t even imagine how his family is coping with this loss, and my heart goes out to all of them. It's a reminder of how important it is for our community to come together and push for change. This violence has to stop. We need to keep talking about it and supporting those affected until there are real solutions and safer streets for everyone. Does anyone know if there have been any local meetings or community initiatives in the Englewood area addressing the recent surge in violence? I’d like to get involved and see if there’s anything I can do to support.
