I came across the recent tragedy near 31st Street Beach, and my heart goes out to the families affected, especially Bombin’s brother, Albert. His recount of the events over the phone paints a chilling picture of how rapidly things escalated. It's gut-wrenching to imagine being on the other end of that call, knowing your loved one is in danger and being utterly powerless to intervene. This isn't just about a tragic loss of life; it speaks volumes about the rampant violence in the area that the community is grappling with. Alderman Robinson's push for tighter security measures and earlier closing times at the beach sounds like a step in the right direction, but I hope it's just the beginning. It’s crucial we find a way to prevent more families from suffering such immense loss. Keeping Bombin and his girlfriend’s young kids in my thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
