I just can't stop thinking about Derrick's smile. I didn't know him personally, but every time I see his pictures shared by his friends and family, that big, bright smile stands out. It's heartbreaking to think about how someone so full of life could be taken away so suddenly. What hits hardest is reading the stories his friends share about their time at Kendrick High School; you can tell how much he meant to them. It's a cruel reminder of how dangerous our world can be, even in places we think are safe. My heart goes out to those who knew and loved Derrick. I hope the investigation finds answers soon and that his family can find some peace. If anyone has information, please step up. We owe it to Derrick, his family, and the community to ensure justice is served.
