I’ve been thinking about the two teenagers arrested in connection with Dontavious Hardeman's tragic death. It’s just so devastating to consider how young they are—15 and 17. The idea that kids barely out of childhood themselves could be involved in something this serious is really alarming. Not in any way to shift focus from the immense grief and loss the Hardeman family is experiencing—my heart truly aches for them, especially his daughters, having to process their dad’s senseless death. But I can't help but wonder what leads young people down such a dark path. It makes me think about the importance of community programs and family support systems to maybe intervene earlier in situations like this. How do we, as a society, identify signs before they escalate into such dire outcomes? And what can those of us following this case from afar do to help prevent similar tragedies in our communities? This tragedy is a wake-up call for us all to support at-risk youth and guide them onto a better path. My thoughts and prayers remain with Dontavious’ loved ones, and I hope justice is served swiftly and fairly.
