For Gary to escape and kill himself was pretty anti-climatic. He did so much to cause havoc on the society. Would have it been nice to put him through trial, convict, and maybe sentence him to death? Yeah. Is it better he offed himself and the public didn't have to deal with the cost and time of a trial. Heck yeah.
