I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact of Javare Shakir-Fulford’s tragic death on the community around 120 Piedmont Avenue N.E. It’s such a devastating loss for his family, friends, and the whole Atlanta community. What really struck me is how this isn’t an isolated incident for that area. The RaceTrac location closing after yet another violent event speaks volumes about the ongoing safety issues there. Seeing how GSU students and officials are now discussing ways to make the area safer is a step in the right direction, but it's heart-wrenching to know it took another life lost to spark this conversation. I really hope the discussions lead to real change—not just for the students but for everyone who calls that area home. It shouldn’t take such tragedies for these issues to get the spotlight they deserve. Does anyone have updates on security measures being proposed around GSU? My thoughts are with Javare's loved ones and everyone impacted by this unnecessary loss.
