It's always bothered me how Larry’s abandoned motorcycle was found, but no other trace of him ever appeared. It feels like a ghost town of evidence. Has anyone ever looked into possible sightings or unusual activity around the Owens River at that time? Perhaps there was someone in the area who might have seen or heard something. Also, why was the location of his memorial site chosen in Goleta, rather than somewhere near Bishop? Was Goleta significant to Larry or his family in some way? I hope sharing more details might jog someone’s memory after all this time.

I'm really intrigued by the location aspect of Larry Paul Elmerick's disappearance. I recently came across an old map of the area near Owens River, and it's fascinating to consider how different the landscape might have been back in 1969. With smaller, less developed roads and fewer people around, it makes me wonder if the remoteness could have played a role in why no one saw him or what exactly happened. Does anyone know if current conditions in that area have been compared to how things were when Larry disappeared? It's natural to think about how the environment might mask evidence or affect search efforts, especially with overgrown vegetation or changes due to weathering over decades. I'd be interested to hear if others think this could be a factor that might offer some clues, or even if there are specific landmarks that have drastically changed since that time.
