I’ve been following the tragic case of Jessica and Julianna Thompson, and recently I've been reflecting on how deeply intertwined their lives were with the Smithville community. Jessica’s long-time involvement with the Lee County YMCA’s Summer Camp and After School Programs speaks volumes about her character and dedication to the kids around her. It’s evident that her nurturing spirit extended well beyond her own family, touching many young lives. It’s just so sad that a mother and her daughter, both vibrant and connected in their community, had their lives cut short. I can’t help but think about the void they’ve left, especially for the children who looked up to Jessica at the YMCA. She must have played such a vital role for so many families, offering support and care. This tragedy reminds us of how truly interconnected we all are in a community and the impact one person can have. I hope justice is served and we can continue to honor their memories by supporting community programs they cared so much about. Sending love and strength to the Thompson family and all those affected. ?

I can't stop thinking about the incredible dreams Julianna had for her future. Pursuing a career as a phlebotomist and working with children in need shows just how compassionate and driven she was. It's hard to think about all the young lives she could have positively impacted. Whenever I read about cases like this, it always reminds me of how important it is to cherish and support each other while we can. My heart goes out to Jocelyn, William, and the entire family. They must be so proud of the bright future Julianna was paving for herself. If there’s any way we can come together as a community to honor her memory and aspirations, I’d love to be involved. Does anyone know if there’s been a scholarship or fund set up in her name?
