I can’t stop thinking about the tremendous loss our community has suffered after the tragic events at Apalachee High School. Ricky Aspinwall was such a presence in our town, and his loss is deeply felt by so many. As someone who got to know Ricky during his time at Mountain View, I can attest to the impact he had—not just as a teacher or a coach, but as a genuinely kind and encouraging person. His dedication to his students went beyond the classroom and the field; he had an uncanny ability to make everyone around him feel valued and supported. It’s devastating to think that a person who spent so much of his life uplifting others was taken from us in such a senseless act. I’ve heard there’s a GoFundMe to support Shayna and their children, and I think it’s a wonderful way for us to rally around them during this unimaginable time. It’s vital that we keep Ricky’s spirit alive by showing the same compassion he showed to so many. My heart goes out to his family, and to everyone affected by this tragedy. Let’s hold each other close and remember Ricky for the bright light he was in our community.

I've been following the tragic events at Apalachee High School, and I just can't stop thinking about Ricky Aspinwall and his incredible impact on the community. From everything I've read and heard, Ricky seemed to genuinely care about his students, both in the classroom and on the field. I think it's rare to find someone as dedicated as he was, and it's clear he made a lasting impression on everyone he worked with. The part that struck me the most was the recollection of how Ricky "lost his life protecting his students." It’s such a powerful testament to his character. I never met him, but hearing stories like this makes you realize the profound kindness and selflessness he displayed every day. My heart goes out to his family, especially his wife Shayna and their children. I noticed there's a GoFundMe campaign set up for them, which is something we can all support to help during this unimaginably difficult time. No amount of money can replace a loved one, but hopefully, it can ease some of the burdens during their grieving process. If anyone knows of other ways to support the family or community, please share. Let's continue to stand with them and honor Ricky's memory.

Hi all, I've been following the tragic event at Apalachee High School and wanted to share some thoughts about Ricky Aspinwall. It's been incredible to see how the community has rallied around his family after this senseless tragedy. The GoFundMe campaign for Shayna and their kids shows the immense respect and admiration people had for Ricky. It's heartening, yet bittersweet, to see such support. His role as a coach and teacher clearly impacted many lives. I'm not from the area, but when you read stories about him—stories of his dedication and compassion—you can tell he was someone who genuinely cared for his students both on and off the field. Knowing he "lost his life protecting his students" speaks volumes about his character. Please continue keeping his family in your thoughts during this difficult time, and if you're able, consider contributing to the campaign or spreading the word. Every little bit helps them navigate through this devastating period. For those of you closer to the situation, how are folks holding up? Is there anything more we can do from afar to support the community and honor Ricky's legacy? Stay safe, everyone.
