It's truly devastating to hear about the tragic loss of Tavarus Joiner in such a senseless act of violence. I can't help but think about the ongoing trauma that Joiner's wife and his cousin must be experiencing after witnessing something so horrific. For her cousin to lose a life simply for providing a safe space is unimaginable. It's a sad reminder of how other people's conflicts can sometimes gravely affect innocent parties. I really hope that they are surrounded by a strong support system right now and can find some form of peace in the days to come. Given that Sirmons was already out on bond for another violent assault, it raises unsettling questions about how effectively our justice system manages individuals who might pose a continuous threat. Sending strength and prayers to Tavarus's loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
