I stumbled upon some information about the tragic drive-by shooting on Langston Place that took the lives of Kevin Mason and his cousin, Demarcos Pinckney. What's really been weighing on me is the role of the community programs in trying to prevent this type of violence. Kevin Mason was involved with Guns Down Fridays, a program aimed at getting young people away from street violence. It’s truly devastating to see that despite these efforts, senseless violence still found its way to them. I can’t help but wonder—what more can be done to support these programs and protect our youth? Clearly, programs like these are making an impact, but it seems they need more resources and community backing to make a more profound change. If anyone has suggestions or knows of other programs making waves, it’d be great to hear about them. We need to stand together to make a significant difference and prevent further tragedies. Sending love and strength to the families affected and hope for justice.
