Has anyone else been following the increased DPS patrols around Catholic University after the tragic incident with Robert Lavender? It's understandable that the university wants to take action, but I’m wondering if anyone on the forum who’s local has noticed any real change in safety or overall atmosphere since then? It’s so sad that it took such an awful event to prompt these changes. I can’t stop thinking about Robert and his family. No one should fear waiting for a ride after a long workday. My heart goes out to them, and I hope the increased presence gives some peace of mind to students and families in the area. Would love to hear thoughts or experiences from those nearby.
Has anyone else been thinking about how this case affected the local community, especially the students and staff around the Catholic University area? It’s unsettling to think that something so tragic happened so close to a place where people should feel safe and focused on their education. I'm sure the increased presence of DPS on and around the campus provided some sense of security, but I wonder how people who live and work in that area are coping in the long run. It's hard to imagine the fear and anxiety that such incidents can create in a community. And for Robert Lavender’s friends and family, I can’t even begin to comprehend the pain they must be dealing with. It's just such a senseless act of violence.
It's deeply unsettling to think about how quickly a routine evening can turn into a tragedy. Robert Lavender's situation highlights the unexpected and senseless nature of such violence. I can only imagine the pain his family and co-workers must be going through right now. The increased safety measures around Catholic University show how much this incident shook the community.
Something that hasn't been discussed much is the impact on the witnesses or first responders who arrived at the scene. Experiencing something so traumatic can leave lasting effects. Does anyone know if there have been any support services provided for them? It seems important to consider not just the immediate aftermath for the victim's loved ones, but also for those who were suddenly thrust into such a terrible situation.
