Did anyone ever look into the weather conditions on that July trip to Abaco Island? I mean, Eugene wasn't exactly a seasoned sailor from what we've heard. If they hit some unexpected storm or tricky waters, it might explain why there was no sign of them or the boat. I've read that those waters can be pretty unpredictable, especially for someone with minimal experience. Not ruling anything out, of course, but weather can be so merciless. Just thinking out loud here.
Has anyone looked into the weather conditions around the time Eugene and Melanie went missing? I've been researching similar cases, and it seems like sudden storms have been responsible for quite a few mysterious disappearances at sea. Considering Eugene wasn't very experienced with boating, even a minor storm could have spelled disaster for them, especially in open waters. Also, speedboats like their Cigarette can be tricky in rough conditions. If the weather was bad, it might lend some clues about what happened to them. Anyone here familiar with how to access historical weather records for the Miami to Bahamas route from back then? Could provide some new insights!
