Does anyone have any info on the hobby John Barnes was involved in? I heard he was really into model trains, and there was a rumor he might've been planning to attend a model train convention around the time he vanished in 1982. It's just speculation, but did someone from that community possibly know him or see him around that time? Maybe a lead could help piece together his last known movements. Just seems odd that he would suddenly stop contacting his family without a trace. If anyone's into model trains or knows of conventions from back then, maybe check any old photos or records?
I've been following John Albert Barnes' case for a while now, and something I find really puzzling is how quickly communication with his family just stopped. It's like one day he was there, and the next, nothing. Did anyone else read about him possibly planning a move or a job change around the time he went missing? Sometimes people just want a fresh start, but it's weird that there's literally no trace. It’s 2023, and I’m hoping new technology like social media and genealogy sites can help bring some insights or maybe jog someone's memory. Has anyone heard of similar cases where digital tools helped after so many years?
Does anyone else find it puzzling how many missing person cases from the 80s are still unresolved? John Albert Barnes, missing since '82 from Wheeling, IL, is yet another example. He was re-entered into NamUs just last month after all these years. What caught my attention is that despite having his physical description—around 5'4" or 5'5", 145-150 lbs, brown hair, blue eyes—there seem to be hardly any solid leads. It's like he vanished into thin air. I wonder if there's a link between his case and others from that era? Could it be a matter of record-keeping back then, or are there other factors at play that might connect these disappearances?
