I can’t stop thinking about the community’s role in Antonio Williams' case. Living in that area for most of my life, I feel like we owe it to his memory and his family to step up and help however we can. It’s infuriating and saddening that something so tragic could happen right in our neighborhood. I remember the police presence that morning at 81st Terrace and the desperation in the air as detectives were trying to piece together what happened. It makes me wonder how well we know our community and neighbors. Could more vigilance or connectedness have prevented this? The fact that the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers has a $5,000 reward makes me hopeful someone might come forward with crucial information. I strongly urge anyone who might know something to reach out. It’s the least we can do to help bring some peace to Antonio’s family. Gun violence is tearing communities apart and it's appalling that more is not being done to address it at its root. This is more than just a police or policy issue — it's about us as neighbors looking out for one another and making sure no family has to endure this kind of pain. Hoping and praying for justice and peace for everyone involved.
