I’ve been thinking about the impact this must have on Sheena’s children. It's unfathomable to imagine the trauma of finding your mother like that and then having to deal with the situation practically in real-time. The burden they carry, knowing their father is implicated in this horrendous act, is a heavy one. I hope they’re surrounded by supportive family and counselors who can guide them through this nightmare. I also wonder what kind of support systems are available for families in situations like this, where domestic violence goes undetected until it’s too late. This just makes me reflect on the many families that might be in similar situations without anyone knowing. My heart goes out to them as they navigate this dark chapter.
