I was really struck by the news of the Barber brothers' tragic deaths. Although I didn’t know them personally, I can't help but feel a deep sense of loss for their family and community. What really hit home for me was the plans they had to go on a 10-day vacation to the Virgin Islands. It must have been a trip they eagerly anticipated, planning for months, and it’s just so sad they never got to have that experience together. It's such a chilling reminder of how unpredictable life can be. I can only imagine the excitement they felt while packing and preparing, only for everything to come to such a sudden and horrific halt. The fact that blood was found pooling under the front door before the bodies were discovered is haunting. To think that a moment of joy could turn into something so dreadful is beyond comprehension. My heart goes out to their loved ones. Losing family in such an unexpected and violent way is unimaginable. For the daughters and grandkids in Kentucky, and the friends here in Florida, I hope they find peace and healing over time. The disc golf memorial sounds like a beautiful tribute to James Sr., and I hope it brings some comfort to those who miss them both dearly. ?

Hi everyone, I just can’t seem to get over how James Sr. and Wesley Barber spent so much time planning their special trip to the Virgin Islands, only for this tragedy to happen right before they could set out. It’s something so relatable—a sibling trip that you look forward to for months, planning every little detail, and then to have it all torn away in such a senseless way. It’s just unfathomable what their family must be going through right now. I was reading about how James Sr. used to bring so much joy to his friends through disc golf, and it made me think about how these two brothers were about to create new memories together on their vacation. Instead, their absence must leave such a difficult void for those who loved them. And for Wesley, who traveled all the way from Kentucky, it’s incredibly painful his daughters and grandchildren have to go through this loss without any warning. Does anyone know if there’s some sort of fund or support network set up for their family? It feels like helping out in any way we can might be the least we can do to honor their lives. Retaining their warmth and laughter in the community was clearly important to both of them, so maybe we can keep that spirit going somehow. Sending strength to everyone involved.

Hi everyone, I've been following this case closely, and one aspect that really stands out to me is the role James Sr. played in the disc golf community. I never had the privilege of meeting him personally, but from everything I've read and the stories people share, it's clear he was a beacon of positivity. The fact that he used something as simple as disc golf to bring people together and spread joy is truly something special. I can't imagine the void his absence will create for so many people who looked up to him, not just as a player but as a friend and mentor. It's those little communities—like the disc golf group—that often get overlooked but play such an essential part in people’s lives. My heart goes out to all his friends and family. The Sheffield Park memorial round must have been incredibly moving. If anyone attended, I'd love to hear more about how it went and any stories you'd like to share about James Sr. These senseless acts of violence really make you appreciate the small things and cherish the connections we have with each other. Let's keep the focus on supporting the family and community through this difficult time. Thoughts and strength to everyone affected. ❤️
