I've been following the tragic case involving Winshay Roddey and her family, and I can't stop thinking about the 11-year-old granddaughter who was caught in the middle of this horrific event. It breaks my heart to think about how a child had to witness such violence and then be brave enough to call 911. It's incredible that she managed to act despite being injured herself. I hope that she’s surrounded by love and support during this difficult time, and that she receives all the help she needs to heal from this traumatic experience. That young girl truly showed immense courage at such a young age. My thoughts are with her and all those affected by this tragedy.
I can't stop thinking about the immense pressure and fear that Winshay Roddey and her sister must have felt in those final moments, trying to protect their mother. It's unimaginable to consider the terror in that house that day. Having a stranger bring such horror into a home leaves a scar on the whole community, but when it's someone who was supposed to be a partner and a father figure...? That's incredibly difficult to reconcile. I hope the surviving family members are surrounded by love and support. And that brave 11-year-old—what strength it took for her to make that call and to try to understand something no child ever should. I’m sending virtual support to everyone still trying to process this tragedy.
