Hello everyone,
I’ve been thinking a lot about the area around S. Howard Avenue lately. I've spent some time there myself, and I can't help but feel for the community. It's unsettling to think that places like Jimmy John's, where many might just stop by for a late-night sandwich, can become the scene of such violence. It's a chilling reminder of how quickly things can escalate.
I truly hope that the business owners and patrons feel safe, and that the efforts by Chief Bercaw to engage with local businesses lead to meaningful change. With the tragedy still fresh in our minds, we need to focus on making these areas secure for everyone. I’m particularly interested to hear more about any community initiatives that might be taking place or if there are gatherings planned to support the families affected.
Stay safe, everyone, and let's keep supporting each other through these difficult times.
Warm regards,

Has anyone else been thinking about the impact on local businesses after the tragic events on S. Howard Avenue? I read somewhere that the altercation took place right in front of a Jimmy John's, and it got me wondering how the businesses in that area are faring after such a violent incident. I can’t even begin to imagine how it must have affected the employees and owners who suddenly found themselves at the epicenter of a crime scene. Beyond the immediate trauma, there’s also the potential effect on customer turnout and overall business morale.
While I know that the focus needs to be on justice for Kenneth Washington and Kevon Christmas, I think support for the businesses caught in the crossfire is also important. Maybe as a community, we could find ways to help them back on their feet while the investigation unfolds. In times like these, we should be pulling together not just to help the victims’ families, but also those indirectly affected. Thoughts?
