I've been following the case of Phillip Zilliot II and his family, and I can't get over the sense of loss and tragedy that surrounds this situation. Something about the fire pit really stuck with me; it feels so cold and calculating. How did nobody immediately think to look there when they saw it smoldering during the initial welfare check? I suppose hindsight is 20/20, but it’s just so baffling. It must be incredibly hard for the families involved to wrap their heads around this. I've read that cadaver dogs were instrumental in locating the remains during the second search. It raises so many questions about the investigation process and whether earlier checks could have prevented this heartbreaking discovery. My heart truly goes out to anyone touched by this awful event. Anyone else have thoughts on the fire pit angle? It just seems so sinister to me.
