Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the background checks these online platforms do—or don't do—on their users now that I've heard about Brandon Leo's tragic case. It really highlights some scary gaps when it comes to ensuring user safety during transactions. It's devastating how an attempt to sell something like a pair of AirPods can end in such a violent way. My thoughts are with Brandon's family and friends during this time; I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through. Given what happened, do you think there's any responsibility that these platforms should take on? Maybe a system to verify identities before allowing interactions to be set up? Or some kind of collaboration with law enforcement to prevent these setups? I know it's a complex issue, but I can't stop thinking about how these tragedies could maybe be prevented. What are your thoughts?
