Demoy Peart, 27, was killed in a road rage shooting in Miami Gardens on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Police say the shooting happened around 5 p.m. near NW 175th Street and NW 22nd Avenue. Surveillance footage reportedly shows a white Kia turn onto NW 175th Street, followed by a silver Honda driven by Peart; the Honda passed the Kia and shortly afterward the shooting occurred. Peart was found shot inside his car, taken to a local hospital, and pronounced dead from two gunshot wounds to the upper left chest.

A suspect remained at the scene and was taken in for questioning; the Miami Gardens Police Department had not confirmed the suspect’s identity and charges were pending as the investigation continued. Family members described Peart as loving, family-oriented, personable, outgoing, and someone who tried to make others laugh. The family has launched a GoFundMe to help cover funeral and memorial expenses and plans to gather, including relatives in Jamaica, for a memorial service.
