Did anyone else notice something strange about the way Karel Szabo communicated with his family? I mean, how many people send postcards instead of calling, especially when they're already in a different continent? I find it unusual given the technology available at the time. Was he trying to avoid leaving a phone record, or maybe he didn't have steady access to a phone? Or perhaps he was just someone who preferred written communication. I feel like this detail could say a lot about his mindset or situation. Curious if anyone knows if there were any particular reasons people might have avoided calls in the mid-80s, especially when abroad. Could this hint towards a reason for his silence?
