I’ve been thinking a lot about the tragic events that unfolded in that McDonald's parking lot in Searcy earlier this year. The fact that Cody Benton, at just 24, felt pushed to such a drastic measure is incredibly sobering. I wonder what might have been going through his mind in those final moments. From what I’ve read, it seems like the argument between him and Josh Acevedo escalated quickly, leaving no room for cooler heads to prevail. These situations always make me question how we can better support mental health and conflict resolution in our communities to prevent tragedies like this in the future. My thoughts go out to the families and friends of both men, who must be going through an unimaginable time. It’s just so sad for everyone involved.
