I've been following the discussions about Maryam Anika Ballard and just felt compelled to express some thoughts about the impact her loss has had on her children and grandchildren. It's hard to imagine the void that her three kids, Tosh, Mia, and Naomi, are feeling right now. It's such a difficult thing to process, especially when there are little ones involved who may not completely understand what's happened. I hope they are surrounded by love and support from the family and the community, not just now but in the long term. People often think that healing comes with time, but I believe that community and the bonds shared within it can be powerful healing agents too. I'm glad to hear that there was a memorial service held for her—it gives those who loved her a chance to share memories and feel less alone in their grief. I send all my prayers and well wishes to Maryam's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.?
