I've been following the discussions around Patrick L. Hayes' tragic death and something that I can't help thinking about is the location where this awful incident occurred. The Ross Creek Day Use Area is not typically a spot you'd expect someone to stop at that time of night, especially if it deviates from his regular route home. I wonder what made him take that turn? Was there something significant that caught his attention, or did he feel like he was being followed? It's gut-wrenching to consider he might have felt threatened enough to approach another vehicle with a baton and a knife. This whole case feels like an unpredictable moment that spiraled out of control in the worst possible way. I can't imagine the confusion and devastation his family must be experiencing, especially with those unanswered questions about how and why this happened. My heart goes out to them as they seek justice and clarity.
