Richard David Figura, 30, disappeared from Niagara Falls on January 9, 1989. A lifelong Niagara County resident and 1976 Lewiston‑Porter High School graduate, he worked as a machinist at Dern Moore Machine Co. in Lockport and was active in the local motorcycling community, serving as treasurer of the Niagara County Motorcycle Club and belonging to the Niagara County Chapter of ABATE.
His vehicle was found abandoned in a parking lot at Niagara Falls State Park and some of his personal property was recovered near the American Falls. Parks police had received a report that day of a body in the lower Niagara River rapids, and authorities came to believe he had drowned, though his body was never recovered. A memorial service was held for Richard, but the circumstances of his final moments remain unresolved.
If anyone knew Richard, rode with him, or has information about his movements in early January 1989, please come forward.
