I recently came across Tina Fang Chen's case, and something that stands out to me is how she might have had links to someone in the United States. Was there ever any investigation into her social circle to see if she had connections that could have drawn her south? I find it so odd that there's this belief she was heading to New York, yet nothing concrete ever substantiated it. Could there have been someone she met online before moving to Canada? 2000 was still early days for the internet, but I wonder if they explored that angle enough. It's hard to imagine a teenager making such a drastic move without any support or destination in mind.
