I came across Brenner "Justin" Anderson's case again today, and I still can't wrap my head around how those involved could let things escalate to such a tragic end. It's absolutely devastating for Justin’s family, especially knowing his mother had warned him about the risks he was unknowingly taking. I can only imagine the pain she feels, losing her son in such an avoidable situation. I was particularly struck by how the police used social media to track down the suspects. It shows both how things have changed with technology and how the pursuit of justice can take different forms today. I hope this brings some measure of closure to Justin's family, though I know nothing can truly make up for their loss. This situation is a painful reminder for all of us about the importance of making safe decisions and being wary of who we trust in these kinds of transactions.
