The Arismendez tragedy is such a heavy burden for the family and the community to bear. One detail that stands out to me is how important it is for protective measures to be enforced once they're in place. It's bewildering how Jerad, given his documented violent history, was still able to have unsupervised visits with his daughters.
It’s one thing to have court orders and DCS records highlighting dangerous behaviors, but if these aren't actively monitored or if the system inadvertently permits contact, it puts everyone at risk. I can't even begin to imagine the fear Carmen must’ve felt, knowing his past actions. My heart truly goes out to her and the remaining family members during such a difficult time. This is a stark reminder of why we need a vigilant child protection system that prioritizes the safety of those most vulnerable.
On a side note, it's uplifting to see the community rallying together to support the family through the GoFundMe page. It shows the power of collective compassion in the aftermath of such unimaginable events.
I came across this case from Tolleson, and I'm just at a loss for words. It's baffling that Jerad Arismendez was allowed any unsupervised time with his daughters, given his past—especially with that protection order in place since June 2016. How did things reach such a tragic end? There seems to have been a significant oversight, and I can't help but wonder where the system failed these little angels. My heart goes out to their mom, Carmen. I can’t imagine her pain, knowing the fear she must have lived with every time her girls went for those visits. Audrey and Ariah deserved to be safe, loved, and protected. It's just so difficult to comprehend. Does anyone have any insights or updates on how the community has been coping since the vigil?
