I've been thinking a lot about the complex emotions that must have surrounded this case. Erick Prieto's family is left carrying this immense burden of grief and loss—it just breaks my heart to imagine their pain. And then there's Michael Lee Peacock's daughter, who is now caught in the crossfire of two tragedies: losing her father and being connected to such a senseless act. Why do people feel entitled to control the lives of others, even to the extent of committing violence? It's haunting to consider how someone can justify their actions based on subjective beliefs about someone else's life. No one deserves to suffer because of what someone else fears might happen. I hope both families can find some peace eventually, though I know it won't bring Erick back or change the outcome.
