I recently came across the case of Dr. Steven Errol Pitt, and it's been on my mind ever since. It's truly devastating to think about the ripple effect of his murder—not just for his family and friends but also for the entire forensic psychiatric community. Dr. Pitt had such a significant role in some of the most complex criminal cases of our time. It's hard not to wonder about the knowledge and expertise we've lost with his passing, not to mention the personal impact on those he inspired and mentored throughout his career. The fact that his Memorial Service was so close to the resolution of the case adds another layer of tragedy. The news that the gunman took his own life hardly brings any peace to the situation. I really feel for Asa and the rest of Dr. Pitt's family; I can't imagine having to attend a memorial amidst such chaos and uncertainty. They were truly robbed of having closure at the time. It’s a painful reminder of how senseless violence leaves so many lives shattered in its wake. Thinking of everyone who knew and admired Dr. Pitt.
