I’ve been following the case of Matthew Dylan Gilmore, and something that's really got me thinking is the role of bystanders in situations like this. Were there people around who saw the argument escalate between Matthew and Christopher Ruether? It makes me wonder what might have been going through everyone's mind at that bar. Did they feel helpless or scared to intervene? I know there’s always a risk when stepping in, especially when it involves firearms. But I can’t help but imagine what might have happened if someone was able to de-escalate the situation before it turned fatal.
