I've been following the tragic story of Lanae Mouton and her baby girl, Ava, and one aspect that’s really haunting me is the neighbors' account of what happened that night. It's gut-wrenching to imagine the terror Lanae must have felt, knowing someone was there to hurt her and her daughter, and still clinging to hope that pleading might change the outcome. I can’t shake Nancy Montano's words about hearing Lanae's desperate cries for mercy. It must have been an utterly terrifying experience for the neighbors who witnessed it, let alone the heartache for Lanae’s loved ones. It’s a tragic reminder of how domestic violence not only devastates the lives of those directly involved but also impacts entire communities. It makes me wonder how many other silent voices are out there, enduring similar situations. My thoughts go out to the Mouton family and everyone affected by this senseless act.
