I've been following Oscar Ortega's case closely, and my heart goes out to his family and friends. It's chilling to think of the fear he must have felt during this nightmare. One thing that really troubles me is the role technology played — Oscar managed to send that desperate text to his girlfriend. Thank goodness he had that fleeting chance to reach out. It's scary how even in today's connected world, something like this can still go so wrong. I keep thinking about how crucial our phones have become in our daily lives, both as a lifeline and, sadly, a reason for violence in this instance. It’s a stark reminder of the dual-edged sword tech can be. I hope that moving forward, there’s increased awareness and education around digital safety, especially for young people. Holding Oscar's loved ones in my thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
