I came across Alvin "Chip" Long Soldier Jr.'s case recently while browsing through some discussions about missing persons, and something that really struck me was the lack of updates or media attention since his disappearance. It's concerning how little we know about the circumstances surrounding his case and how quickly it seems these stories can fade from the public eye. Being an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, it seems like this should garner more focus, especially with how prevalent the issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons is. It's a harsh reminder of how so many cases involving Indigenous individuals don’t get the attention they deserve. Without new leads or developments being widely disclosed, it's tough to keep the momentum going for people to remain aware and engaged. I hope that there's more community outreach or involvement soon to help chip away at this silence. The Bureau of Indian Affairs managing his case is a step, but it feels like we need more transparency or at least more awareness to keep Alvin's story in the consciousness of the public. Has anyone here seen anything new or heard of any initiatives that are trying to bring more focus to missing Indigenous people in South Dakota, or similar resources? Always hoping something will help crack this case open a bit more.
