Feels like we're hearing about these kinds of incidents more and more often, and it's incredibly sad. This tragedy at Collins Irish Pub and Grill really highlights a pressing issue: the safety of our downtown areas during late-night hours. I can't help but think about how easy it is for situations to escalate when emotions run high and perhaps alcohol is involved. Poor Frankie and his family are left to pick up the pieces, and it’s devastating. The community response seems to be pointing towards a need for better security and more effective conflict resolution programs. Why aren't there more initiatives that focus on de-escalating situations before they get this far? Our downtown areas, while vibrant and full of life, shouldn't be places where people feel unsafe. Maybe having more trained personnel dedicated to conflict resolution present at these hotspots could help prevent such tragedies in the future. Thoughts?
