Wow, it's been so many years since Cassandra Mills was taken from this world, and it's incredibly frustrating that her case remains unsolved. I was reading through some posts and couldn't help but feel for her family and friends who must still be yearning for answers after all this time.
I keep thinking about how someone out there might have seen or heard something that could be the key to cracking this case. It's often those small, overlooked details that end up making all the difference—like someone noticing a car that seemed out of place or hearing a conversation that seemed off.
If anyone reading this has even the slightest piece of information, please consider reaching out to the authorities. It's amazing how time can sometimes jog memories in unexpected ways. Let’s hope that with continued community efforts and awareness, Cassandra's family can finally get the closure they deserve.
Has anyone looked into the possibility of whether Cassandra Mills might have crossed paths with someone that night who wasn't from the neighborhood? Given where she was found, maybe someone was passing through and somehow got into an altercation with her. From what I've read, back in the '90s, the area around Mississippi Avenue had its fair share of transient activity, with people coming and going. Even a minor encounter at the wrong time could have spiraled out of control. My heart goes out to her family and friends who have been waiting decades for answers. It's so important that we keep discussions like this alive in hopes that someone, somewhere might remember something that could bring justice to Cassandra. If anyone has any local insights or memories from that time, every little detail might help give her family the resolution they deserve.

Cassandra ‘Sandy’ Mills didn’t live in the area where her body was found. She lived in Maryland. She was taken from her apartment in Maryland and found deceased in DC. Her neighbor spoke with the media and reported hearing screams around 3am and 2 men walked her out (alive)wrapped up in a white sheet, from the neck down shortly after. Her neighbor said she looked through her peephole after she heard the screams but didn’t call the police because she didn't want to get involved.

You could see the neighbors silhouette behind a white partition and her voice was disguised during this news report. I’m not sure why PG county police weren’t more involved since she was taken against her will from Maryland. That same night a message was left on her voicemail from her boyfriend’s nephew saying that he was on his way. I’m not sure if he was 1 of the 2 men the neighbor saw but he was found murdered that night and Sandy’s body was found the next day or two. Sandy’s sister told me the detectives said there was no connection to the nephews case because different weapons were used and his body was found in Maryland. I guess it makes sense to them that multiple criminals would only carry one gun. This has always haunted me. I don’t think it was a coincidence that the nephew was on his way to her the same night she was taken from her apartment and he was found murdered. His body was found within hours while Sandy’s body lay decomposing in the hot sun in July in an overgrown, unkept grassy area. I was asked by Sandy’s mother to identify her at the morgue because her face was unrecognizable. She and I  both had hidden tattoos.

I was told that the boyfriend was given a polygraph test that was inconclusive but that he wasn’t a person of interest. I later found out that he had another girlfriend that was pregnant during the time that Sandy was murdered.

This information is from 1996 and I haven’t heard of any updates since then. I don’t understand why the DC police rewards poster says no picture is available because thats not true.

Sandy was my best friend.  She was 25 y/o when she was murdered. She was a beautiful, vibrant, kindhearted, hard working, intelligent person who loved Michael Jackson and loved to dance. At the time of her death she was enrolled at GWU EMT program and worked full time at a doctor’s office and part time at the hospital. She had dreams of becoming a nurse. She did not deserve to die this way….no one does.

Has anyone looked into the possibility of a connection between Cassandra Mills’s murder and other unsolved cases in the area from that period? I remember reading about a string of violent incidents around Mississippi Avenue in the mid-90s. It's haunting to think that someone could have information and not realize its significance. If anyone recognizes even a small detail from that time, no matter how trivial it might seem, it could be what cracks the case wide open. My heart goes out to her friends and family—here's hoping that someday soon they'll get the answers they deserve.
