I still can't wrap my head around how young Officer Briese was, and it's so tragic to think his life ended this way, following in his father's footsteps. My heart goes out to his family, especially knowing his father was also lost in the line of duty. It must be incredibly difficult for them to relive this kind of pain.
The community's response, with American flags lining the streets and the honor of a 21-gun salute, really shows how much he was respected and valued. It's a comfort to know that he was recognized as a person of integrity and honor during his service. Though these gestures can't replace their loss, I hope his loved ones find some solace in knowing the impact he had in his short time as an officer. Sending continued thoughts and prayers to all the families affected, including those who were there that terrible night in Santan.

Knowing that Joshua’s father, Deputy Sheriff David Leroy Briese, Jr., also died in the line of duty, I can't even begin to imagine the pain that this family has endured over the years. It's like a haunting cycle that has left so many people grieving. My heart goes out to Joshua’s family for having to go through such unimaginable loss again.
